A downloadable game for Windows
This was a 2 week-long solo project. I designed the environment, character, gameplay, made the UI images and wrote scripts for the game.
You, a butterfly trapped in a terrarium, finds the courage to break free one day. Before taking flight, you must collect all of the required ingredients listed in your grand recipe for escape, to brew a magic nectar that will help spread your wings.
The theme of this game circulates on the issue of family enmeshment and parental control. Having grown up in a family of strict culture, I was expected to be obedient and was discouraged to make my own life choices. My mother is especially overly-protective and would sometimes punish me by using threats and guilt-trips to keep me from disobeying her. The flower names represent the different emotions or phases that I've gone through when I grew up under her roof. The butterfly escaping the terrarium is my experience when I left my home to study abroad - when I feel like I grew wings.
The crayon-drawing style is representative of my childhood.
